Comparing scat 9000 cast crank vs 4340 forged crank which is lighter. I've read many places that the cast are lighter and wanted to just clear this up.
Thanks

Cast cranks are typically lighter than forged with very few exceptions (all out race that have been shaved to levels dangerous for anything other than running the length of the one race they were designed to run).

how much of a difference in weight is there between the two. I know that a forged crank can hold upwards of 1000hp but how much will aftermarket scat cast crank hold?

Cast cranks are fine into the 600HP+ range with no issues, they are a fair bit lighter.

Just to add to what Rick said... a cast crank will handle more horse power than your 2 bolt block will.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
