Are there any pros and cons to removing the cats off the stock H? If I do this how will I turn off my engine light?

I have not personally removed them from a stock h so I can't say but as far as the engine light there are 2 ways ,first being to buy the mil eliminators for 50 bucks. or the way I did it cost me 11.88$ and works like a charm, using two sparkplug non foulers on each rear 02 sensor

Pros - Slight power gain, little louder.

Cons - Louder, not going to pass an emissions sniffer test (if applicable), smell of unburnt hydrocarbons at stoplights, etc.

If this is for the '03 GT in your sig, yes, you will need to address the two rear O2 sensors - either via a tuner (which can "turn off" the rear O2 sensor monitoring) or with some form of MIL eliminators. Otherwise your check engine light will stay on for the rear O2 sensors not being able to read within the allowable "spec" for voltage/signal.

Are you planning on gutting or cutting out the factory cats and straight piping those sections? Might be better off finding a used X or H pipe for sale locally...

YMMV

In some jurisdictions it is illegal to remove your working cats.

but really I would just look at an aftermarket o/r mid pipe (or to pass the sniff test add some hi-flow cats). Do your exhaust right the first time.

+1, sounds like more trouble than what it's worth. Just find a used midpipe designed for that task and sell your stock one. Or keep it, if you intend to swap it back out for an emissions test.

I love FL

+2 Even a new midpipe is relatively cheap.

When you need it, you'll REALLY need it.

Also don't forget, the stock pipe diameter is 2 1/4 inch, and is heavy as hell!

Get an aftermarket h/x pipe and hold onto the stock h for emissons testing.
