Catalytic Converter Past X Question

Hi, I have an offroad x pipe, that I finally got on there without header to x pipe leaks, but need to pass an emissions test. I know catalytic converters work best when hot, but just wondering if there is such thing as a catalytic style muffler that would work, so that I don't have to pull apart my exhaust system. I still need to replace my cat back as the system is definitely a large bottleneck for my system. Anyways, has anyone had any success, even temporarily installing some used catalytic converts that are lying around past the x pipe. Or is there a catalytic style muffler that would work. Thanks

If you need to legitimately pass the sniffer test, you want those cats as close to the engine as possible...esp if there are only 2.

I don't know of any vehicle that has cats as far back as the muffler or past the mid-pipe.

Catalytic converters require a specific heat range to work efficiently. As Mustang5L5 has said, they need to be as close to the engine as possible. The farther away they are from the engine ,the colder and less efficient they operate.
