I've got a friend who is selling his tailpipes off of a brand new Flowmaster American Thunder 2.5" Catback. It's the pipe from the muffler to the tips, will this fit on my '02 GT? I'll be putting different/bigger exhaust tips on it tho.. If it won't fit, what all is different?

Help Me Out Stangnet! :SNSign:

Edit: It's off of a '94 GT.. sorry bout leavin that one out

It should fit, unless it was modified for whatever mid-pipe he had.

A 94 tailpipe can fit an 02 GT?

Plus, having exhaust coming from that far under your car can be deadly. Like, no **** deadly.

I might be wrong, but I think the only difference is the hanger location. It can fit. Someone who's done it will likely chime in.

I say just go get new tips.

I dunno... With the Flow's being a different size case the length may be different.
But you can always make it fit. When I got my car it had stock pipes with original Flow 40's. I bought the cat back with Super 40's and gave my old exhaust to my buddy. With a little moding he has it on his 76 AMC Matador. Go figure.

I would just put bigger tips on yer pipes. I cant see much of an advantage with the Flows over axle pipes. If they are 2 1/2 inch and yers are 2 1/4 you would want to run all that size.

Well, I plan on buying the pipes and then just getting the pipe between the midpipe and flows redone too (that way i wont have one small 2 1/4 section) and i'll get new flows (or possibly something different) put in the same place, but I don't want them welded in. I know the exhaust shops can make the end of the pipes bigger to slide over and clamp on.. similar to the style of the SLP/Borla catbacks i've seen.

I know this sounds like a retarded idea and "why dont you just buy a catback instead" thing, but the price for the tailpipes is quite a deal and the rest of it shouldnt be that much.. that way I can do it all at once when i get the $$, which should only take a couple weeks.. I just hate looking at that nasty factory crap under there, the weld-spots are rusting too

I appreciate the comments guys, keep 'em comin!

i told alicia to fire it up and let it run for about 10 minutes every couple of days. told her once its warm to rev it a little but not to go over 3500. she's a good queen

man if i were you, i'd save up for some Bassani Street Comp mufflers and run those fuggers. as much as im loving my LMII's, i wouldnt mind having them with the o/r X. they're a perfect medium of the deep muscle sound you get with chambered muffs and the raw, blow your eardrums out with straight through muffs.

Magnaflows or packs CB is like $350 off of part shopper. Your going to spend 200 for the flows, and at leats another 100 for all the rest. I love mine and the quality is great. And you would have 2.5 inch exhaust in one easy to install package. JMO

I'm still thinkin about it.. i'm just not sure.. Maybe i can put somethin different in there instead of the flows

Edit: man that exhaust sounds sick, but I dunno.. I just am not much of a bassani catback person .. guess i'm weird like that.. I wish the stingers sounded as good on the 2V as they do the 4V

But, if I were to change my exhaust which i'm not, I would probably do a nice o/r X-pipe and Stinger Catback setup.. but i dont need to be spending money on that stuff
