SWEEEEEEEET! I assume you are staying na? I would check around, there are some pretty good aftermarket NA cames for the 4v and you can make some series power I would thinK!

That's the plan, I mean I know it's expensive but since the motor is coming out now would be the time to do it to help cut on install costs. Believe me I've been researching cams to death Comp has some nice grinds and then there is the FR500 kit which a lot of 4v guys are happy with. If I have the heads PnP along with my supporting mods (LTs) and then maybe later on have the intake worked on some (possibly by Nazman) I could see some pretty good NA numbers. On the highend people have made 400 rwhp NA, but I'm thinking I could be in the 340-360 range I believe depending on how radical I'd want to go. I'd more then likely keep it in the stage I or II range just so I can keep it as a DD without all the headaches of overly aggressive cams.

That being said I think it'd be cool to have almost 400 flywheel hp on a NA 4.6. Not to mention a 30-40 rwhp should be nice kick in the pants esp if I add steeper gears later on. Oh yea that kick ass chug-a-lug will top it all off.

Yeah for sure, it would be stupid NOT to install them with the motor out right now

To get them too 400 rwhp they need to be bumped to a 5.0 and a pretty sereious intake setup like 8 individual t-bodies and velocity stacks, but it can be done

I would imagine with pp heads and some cams with a full exhaust you should be around 340ish rwhp

Hey I'll be a 283 CI that should be enough.

I believe some of those guys near 400 rwhp have been using the FR500 intake which is way expensive.

340ish would be sweet, esp I hear the throttle whips up pretty fast with cams.

This seems pretty awesome, I think I could go with a customized short runner intake.

I hope so but that's sorta the point, since I have to fix it might as well improve it some while I'm at it.

I have a question, how do you like your flywheel? It was suggested that I might want to upgrade to an aftermarket one while I was at it but I'm not sure what the difference or bonuses would be.

The aluminum fly wheel makes a nice improvment in how quickly the engine revs. I would higly reccomend it since its the easiest time to replace it now. The only downside is it takes a bit more throttle from a stop to keep from stalling the car. Other then that they rock!

It does rev a bit quicker, but its very hard to notice IMO. I only did it because I was installing a new clutch & I got the flywheel for cheap....

Comp Cams 106400 (Stage II according to RPM outlet) that I'm looking at.

I'd loose some low end but from 4000 all the way up it'd scream. Then as more funds build up later on down the road I'd suppose I'd want gears. Then possibly get Nazman to work on my intake. Nazty Performance -Your Source! Then a couple other odds and ends MAF, injectors and TB.

Can't get this f'n thing to embed.

Motor is being worked on now...low oil cause spun rod bearing, f'd up the crank...that was the diagnosis. Motor will be finished up next week and shipped back to JPC for final install, testing and tuning. When it's all said and done she'll be better then even and I Should have the car back 4/20 (ha)...I can't f'n wait!!

*Update*

Motor is back, they're rocking n rollin on the car now. I'm swapping on a set of chrome valve covers. They painted the timing chain cover black. Basically making it look nice. Rep from Diablo will be in town to help tune this weekend and they are going to work hard on finishing up my car...I'm pumped.

It's no much to look at, still looks stock, but that all goes out the window as soon as I fire her up.

I def need some more dressy bits in the engine bay to make it look nicer.

And I def need to do some Mother's back to black on the shaker again, I hope to give her a nice wash and wax soon. It was pretty clean when I got her back but it rained some and I was driving around in it (couldn't resist).

Hope to have some videos as well. It def grabs attention everywhere I go now...almost too much.

The SLPs are nice it's a shame the 4.6 DOHC is so damn big because they are really nice to look at. The motor is already broken in, the shop made sure it was done properly.

I do however need to still get a Kenne Bell boost-a-pump as the stock unit is losing pressure past 5500 rpms so I plan on taking care of that in a few weeks because prolonged high RPM blast could result in a lean condition when fuel pressure is cut. But I'm just having some fun right now, putting some miles on it for the time being then I'll take it back. These cams pull well past 6500 rpms, going to have to get some intake work done in the future.
