Virginia
I live in Virginia, the prude state when it comes to exhaust laws. I have a upr off road x in the garage that im afraid to put in my car. does anyone else in my state run one? I also have flowmasters, which im sure will probably make it too loud to keep from getting noticed. Also, how much quieter would it be if I welded in some cats? would they still trip the ses light? how much louder will the car be with the off road? the welded in cats? thanks.

thanks a bunch guys.. will I be a cop magnet? and I heard also there was a huge penalty for no cats? hope thats just a rumor

I'm from Va. and I run my exhuast setup with no problems. Now, I do have hi-flow cats on my car, but only two. Plus I ran my car for nearly a year without cats on my prochamber and I never got pulled over or questioned by the cops about my exhuast. You will fail a visual inspection though when you get your car state inspected. However, they wont turn you in and you won't get fined for this. You'll just have to either weld in some hi-flow cats or put your stock h-pipe back on long enough for you to get the car inspected, then put the x pipe back on and worry about getting your car safety inspected a year from that point.

I live in texas and you are suspossed to run cats but i dont, I have both a h pipe and a x pipe and neither have cats, when it comes time for inspections i slap on the stock pipe, I wouldnt run a off road x pipe with chamber mufflers it will be extremely loud and raspy , and raspy sound come from no cats , i had a o/r h with flows and i got pulled over a few times luckily enough no tickets
