i am having ****load of problem after removing the 6 cats of my exahust,
i know that was stupid but i didnt know it was that bad.
1- my speedometer reads wrong speed by two miles
2- my car sounds like a fart can
3- lost ton of low-end , it wont even drift on full throttle
i need help resolving the situation , would another aftermarket exahust system fix the problem? or can i get a aftermarket cats? and how many cats i should get? thanks in advance...
P.S: I HATE LS1 MORE NOW BECAUSE A "LS1" OWNER RECOMMANDED THE REMOVAL
CAR : 2004 mustang Gt 40th anniversary

well to fix your problem you need an aftermarket mid-pipe. you lost power because the exhaust is swirling around in the empty chambers of the gutted cats and the 02 sensors arent able to funtion properly. you can get pipes with hi-flow cats or o/r pipes without them but need mil eliminators to keep the computer happy with the o/r pipes.

That's because LT1s and LS1s respond extremely well to exhaust mods like that .......................................pssst..........You don't have an LS1

If you have the money I guess get some LTs and new mid pipe

Cheapest way is o/r h such as a mac and a set of mil eliminators. that about 200 plus shipping. if not find a salvage yard with a wrecked car that you can get a stock h pipe from

I agree that some cars with no cats sound bad, but others sound good. Personally, I love the sound of my exhaust. I felt some gains with the full exhaust...no loss of anything...

Just get any brand off road mid pipe, less than 200 shipped and you can install it yourself. Easy fix...

You all kill me, a Cobra makes a easy 400HP with the same exhaust.
These engines are a 281 cube, air flow is lacking in the intake, cams and heads.

I have very little exhaust out the pipe at idle now with SLP, a offroad pipe would make the even worse.

A chip would help big time in your situation.......

Another vote for the salvage yard here. I think it'd be the cheapest way to go. Cavallo does have a point though, more power won't necessarily come from the exhaust- but in your situation, you either need a pipe with cats on it, or an o/r and MIL eliminators.

hmm been to the salvage yard already , couldnt find a 6-cated pipe ,
all i found is a 4-catted pipe , and a used aftermarket h-pipe.
btw will a older mustang "1998-1997" h-pipe do?
thanks

I'm not sure what year stang you have, but I would strongly recommend the stock midpipe as others have suggested. Like you, I have had the pleasure of having an o/r hpipe in my car with a straight through exhaust. It did sound really loud and I loved it, but it started to get annoying and I've noticed a big difference in the low end (for the worse, like you.) I've kept the aftermarket exhaust and put the stock back on and I love it much better. It still sounds good and runs like a champ.

Changing midpipes won't make a difference unless you start modding the engine.

and i realy hate it when the car is floating on full acceleration
it did that many time in a race/highway and that was very embarrassing
and btw my car is a 2004 mustang gt 40th anniversary "Cle Black"
