cd player won't work!

I have the mach system and the cd player does not work. when i put a cd in it it sounds like its searching and finds the cd but the timer says zero. i pulled the unit out and on the back it looks like there is a place for three diffrent plugs but i can only find two harnesses. any thoughts?

Thats just how ford CD players work. My 02 V6, 04 GT, and old explorer all did it. Its time to upgrade.

Yup...same issue with the Ford (Pioneer) 6-pack in my '01 Explorer. It absolutely refuses to work when it gets hot. Just cycles forever and eventually flashes "error" or something of the like and switches back to FM radio.

^^thats what mine does. is there a kit i can buy to wire up a aftermarket head unit. i tried it one time before and i got all kinds or strange noises and i wasnt very loud.

i had this problem shortly after i bought my 01 gt. i unhooked the battery for a bit a put it back on, cd player has worked ever since. its worth a shot

I just purchased a kit made by alpine from crutchfield for under 200 dollars and came with free ipod cable and some other free stuff. It turns the tape player part of the radio into a storage space.

Sorry...site was down earlier when I tried to post this and I forgot all about it by the time it went back up.

A quick google search revealed that you'll want a Metra 70-1771 wiring harness from Crutchfield. Plug and play, no guesswork.

^^ thats the one i have and i hooked it up and everything but got a lot of really strange noises and it wasnt that loud

that happened to me but thankfully it was under my warranty period and ford put a new unit in for me
