Ceramic or chrome headers ???

i have BBK chrome headers, not the expensive cermamic ones. i think that they look great even after i drove it for a while. as long as they are good quality, it will keep the temp of the engine bay down.

I've compiled a list to recap this thread:
If you want em for just the performance gain get the cheaper ones(chrome), If you want somethin thats gonna look good for 10 years get the ceramic....?Don't some companies just coat the outside and not the inside or the flanges or bolts?

chrome = nice and shiny for a couple years but gets hot quick
ceramic = keeps the heat out and the finish lasts longer

Ceramic. Hands down. Like said before, less heat and they look good longer. I've seen Chrome headers that discolor after a couple of months.

mac hts isn't a ceramic coating just a tacky like heavy duty paint. go with the ceramic they will last opposed to chrome ones that will turn blue in a few weaks and rust like there's no tomarrow

As others allude to, there's no comparison between ceramic coating and any other header coating. Nothing else but ceramic will hold up over time no matter how carefully it's applied. Furthermore, ceramic coatings significantly reduce radiant heat loss into the engine bay.

my bro just forked out the $300 for a pair of ceramic coated ford racing shorties from summit.
these headers are no bull****. they've got a super thick one piece flange, the welds look beautiful, and install was straight forward with none of the bolts being hard to get to, unlike those two on each side of the mac shorties which are just about impossible to get to.
Fork out the extra cash, get something that will last.

My stock HO headers and the Ford Racing shorties I had ceramic coated locally. You can each form your own opinions about what's pretty....

Well, it showed up for a little while, but I guess Corral got tired of hosting them! Oh well, IMAGINE an ugly set and pretty set, and then imagine that the ceramic set is the pretty set. Thanks for the free host link V8...

I have nothing productive to add!
JetHot coating is by far the best, to my knowledge FMS (FRPP) and JetHot themselves are the only ones selling them already done -- and JetHot sells Flowtech headers that they coat. I've run several different brands and the Ford ones are by far the best -- coated inside and out.

Like 89GX (we agree!) I've had great past experiences with JetHot; for the shorties on my car, however, I heard good things about a local company and I used them to coat the stainless FRPP shorties on my car now. I didn't really have a choice; I had to bend/grind one of the headers to clear the frame, and all that had to be done and test fit before they could be coated. From what I can tell so far, everything appears to be up to JetHot standards from a quality perpective and they were much less expensive, of course with no shipping costs either. So if you decide to go that way, you may want to check around you local area and see if you have a shop that does ceramic coating -- their customers will tell you how good they are or aren't. And don't confuse powder coating with ceramic - two completely different things - and the powder coatings won't hold up to exhaust temps.
