What are the advantages and disadvantages to the two coats. I was planning on going with ceramic but is it really worth the $100+ extra?

I'd go with the ceramic because the HTS can scratch off really easy on mine.

if you can get SS then ceramic coat it yourself. If its MACs HTS coating you're talking about, avoid it at all costs.

just go with ceramic coated otherwise get the SS an send them for Jet hot coating

The ceramic coating will help with heat better, giving you more performance.

Ceremic HANDS DOWN....that stuff is very tough and definatly keeps the heat down well.

^John, is your flywheel for the romeo engines or the windsor engines? I may be interested . Also, do you know if it is heavier or lighter than the stocker? NEW?

Get ceramic. If you're getting longtubes, people have been known to have issues with the o2 sensors not getting hot enough or getting a delayed signal, not entirely sure what the problem is. But with ceramic coating, you retain the heat, and it should prevent that problem.

Not to mention your starter will than you.

Ceramic. while the headers are off I would make a heatshield for your starter, its cheap insurance. Also if you get BBK Ceramic longtubes you may want to notch your passanger side motor mount. I know a couple people, me included, that have had clearence issues with one of the primaries on the passanger side hitting the motor mount. I have a really nice dent in my header

If you don't get the Ceramic coated L/T's than the
Stainless Steel L/T's will discolor over time.
Yes, go with Ceramic L/T's if you can because it will
help reduce heat like said above.

Its good for a while but its bulky and u have to consider as well as keeping heat in it can also retain more moisture between the two surfaces when cold.

thanks guys, I ask the question mostly because I work with two guys that bought the ceraminc headers for their cars. The guy who put them on his vette LOVES them and has had no rust on them but my other coworker has shorties on his 68 cougar and there are little rust dots on them after a year. The guy with the vetter said they got cherry red after he put them on the first time he ran the motor with them and thought it might be some kind of heat treatment in them and thats why his dont rust. The guy with the Cougar said that didnt happen to him. Has only one elses rusted? Whats the better buy? Macs or BBK?

Thanks again for the thoughts and the notching of the engine mount warning.

Ya dude, if your talking about Mac's HTS coating, avoid it. They last about as long as it takes for you to turn the car the first time after install. And I'm very happy with my Ceramic coated BBK myself
