Okay.. I am in love with the Cervini's LX rear. My GT rear is busted all to crap. I want to replace it. What is the difference in the bumper covers? Mounting points? Alignment? Can I make it work? I am already doing quite a bit of body work Can I replace a few things and make it work or use some self-tapping screws and make it work or is it a matter of side moulding alignment? If it WONT work, anyone know of any similar bumpers?

I'm not sure what LX bumper you mean. Do you mean Cervini's Saleen style rear bumper? If so, the problem would be that it's not a complete bumper. It's a bumper extension that mounts to the bottom of an LX bumper. So for you to use it, you would first have to install a regular LX bumper, then mount the extension to the bottom of it. Also, the moldings (the part of the trim that lines up with the door moldings) are different on GT's and LX's, so the rear bumper's molding wouldn't match the rest of the car's.
Even though this bumper setup would be extended downward with the bumper extension, it is still higher than a GT bumper. So the rear of the car would be higher than the sides and would look disproportioned. The best option for a GT is the Cobra bumper. The moldings match the GT's, and it's designed to match up to the lines of the GT trim... so it looks like it came on the car, not added later.
Hope this helps!

Thanks.. I realized this after downloading thier online catalog this morning. It Still looks fairly low. I may call them and see how much it comes down.. I like the styling. However it looks as if i may just do a cobra kit and forget it as i need a back bumper cover and a pass. side molding. They are beyond repair. Thanks.

If you are replacing the rear bumper with the cobra rear, you will also need to buy an lx/cobra exhuast, or you could just run with no tailpipes (that really loud though) most of the time the exhuast also has to be modified to fit with the cobra rear because the hangers are not long enough. just food for thought

I honestly dont mind modification. However i just don't favor the cobra rear!! I love the cobra front. I like the GT sides.. and i like this rear. if you notice most cars have a higher rear. i seriously think im going to do this if i can find an LX out town and compare trim. I may jsut get an LX rear bumper.. they are a dime a dozen.. then that valence. mold it in with filler so it looks like it is supposed to be that way. I dont have tailpipes coming off the car right now (undergoing major resto) so i can jsut get a cat-back that uses the wider exhaust. If anyone simply knows it WONT work, please tell me why so i can get around it or not waste my money!

Okay.. nevermind.. i looked more closely at the side mouldings.. way to much to get it to work.
is there any other bumper on the market that is similar to this? that styling just reminds me of a newer mustang.. it flows well with the somewhat boxy styling already on the car. Any ideas?
