im picking up a diff tomorrow out of an 05GT... they have 31 spline axles from the factory. so i was going to rebuild the diff and over pack it like i did with my old 95. now the question is now that they make the prepacked CF clutch packs which is the best way to really make this diff tight. an off the shelf CF clutch pack? or do i rebuild it with an extra clutch?

Totally depends on how tight you want it to be. If a DD that gets driven in the rain... maybe a NO on the additional clutch.

it rides around on hoosier radials has no power steerings no radio no heat no wipers no sway bars no crash bumpers

the price of free.99 is right so i may do this over the spool. in other words i want it tighter then a ticks ass!

ive heard that the CF clutch pack is just as tight as an overpacked standard clutch set up. but ive never tried running the CF clutch packs

Me either. If I can fit an extra though.... It would be in there.

if i had a bunch of cash laying around (which i dont) id buy 2 packs of carbons and really pack the SOB tight! but from what ive read the CF packs come stacked together and you shouldnt mix them up

I've never used the CF pack, but rest assured, when I do, I'll still be shimming it for as close to zero axle end-play as I can get.

i did this with my 95 and i ended up having to take a grinder to my axles stubs to get the cross pin in. think i should have used atleast 1 old clutch. whoops. but that thing drove like a spool
