Hi all,

I'm a computer graphics artist, I'm actually on a personal work : a 3d classic Mustang.

As I'm near the end of the modeling, I'm thinking about an original approach to make pictures. My idea would be to make a set of pictures describing the real life of a Mustang through the time, from '60 to actual times.
For example : a kind of studio advertisement made in '60, driving on a desert road or in a city, junk then restoration in recent days, etc.

The different times would be recognizable by grain film, photo effects, etc. and maybe some technical details that I don't really know yet.

I admit I'm not a car addict and my knowledges are very limited, so that's why I decided myself to ask the real specialists. (You )

So what would help me :

-> a kind of guideline through the time. What would be the "personal" history of a Mustang ? What situations could have it known in particular times ? (i;e. : official ads, movie appearance, junk and restoration...)
-> Even I'm not looking for ultimate precision, some technical details would be nice. I think especially to tyres, I guess they were not the same in '60 and in '90. Maybe other ideas : carpaints ?
-> if you have or think about some, graphic references would be very helpful.

I know it's not really the topic of this forum, so please don't spend time with my questions if you find them inappropriate. I thank you for reading and hope that I could grab some fresh ideas from you.

If you're interested to see my 3d model : Imageshack Gallery
It's not yet finished, it still miss some exterior parts (steering wheel, handles, locks, etc.).
Maybe you'll find I've mixed different parts from differents models... That wouldn't be false . (I'm definitly not a specialist )

Thats actually an interesting idea. Your 3D model looks pretty cool.

I actually have the same tires on my car. These tires were not available originally but have been for the last 30 years. The wheels are the same as mine too, however they would be correct for later years. The 65-66 did not come with Magnum 500 wheels.

You could start it out with factory hub caps white wall tires and then the 65-66 styled steel wheel redline tires and maybe tires like Goodyear Polyglass and then move to BFG TAs.

Heres the styled steel chrome wheel with redline tires.

You could look on you tube for older Mustang advertisements.

I'm not sure what you mean by car paints. A car could have been repainted. One idea is though that it could have had a crappy 70s glitter paint job for a little while and then be faded etc and then someone brought it back to life sort of how you see it in your model right now.

At some point it could look something like this?

From Junk to Resto Check this place: http://www.mustangbeginnings.com/ they have the two extremes - Total Wreck to Total Show Stopper

Movies:
Here's two that jump out at me the most. Check IMCDB.org for more.

1968 Bullit
is regarded as the all time highlight for a Ford Mustang. It featured a 1968 Fastback driven by Steve McQueen.

1991 Motorama featured a '65/'66 coupe throughout most of the movie.
