Unless you turned the entire distributer, you didn't change the timing. The rotor just pulls off, with no tools needed, while turning the distributer requires a wrench to loosen the hold-down clamp.
Great, thanks for the reply. I was a little worried because the rotor rotated counter clockwise on the distributor when I pulled it off. Heard a couple clicks and was concerned it may have adjusted the timing. But if I read you correctly it couldn't harm anything unless I physically unbolted the distributor and moved it.
