Looks nice. The yellow on the front bumper... is that just the masking before the black stripes?

It's interesting to see how high the front springs come up without the weight of the engine.

Also -- on the first picture from the original paint job -- why does the back tire stick so far out of the wheel well?? Maybe it's just an illusion?

Yes just outlining the stripes. The bumper has black stripes now. Also glass is back in.
Also painting the cowl and mirrors red and tailight bezels black. Front raised 3-4 inches with engine out. That along with the new Cobra R hood and I could barley see out the windshield, I am sure it will be fine when the engine is back in though.

Reason the back tires stick out is 1 1/4 wheel spacers. They are off now as I stripped one of the aluminum studs when I was changing my wheels this spring. I think I will get another set though. I like the look

While the car is there, with the engine out, I am thinking on getting them to install my QA1 tubular K-member, A arms, Coil overs, c/c plates, struts, shocks, and subframes. They are saying 1 1/2 days labour to install but I don't think it should take that long.
They quoted me 54 hours for the paint job. They already have over 90 hours and probably another 10-15 to go. So I am thinking they may just be trying to hose me on the K-member install.

This is a lot of work they are doing there but it should look good.

Why not stick a Cobra engine while you're at it...

Because the 331 stroker works way better than the Cobra engine
