Changing Fuel Filter, no pressure relase on fuel rail

Yeah its my fault. I have a wet kit installed so i can't use the fuel pressure release on the shrader valve... what will be the best way for me to change my filter this afternoon? i can let it sit for a few hours I know, but how do i keep from getting sprayed in the face by all the pressure? Is there a way to relieve the pressure otherwise?

unplug the harness from the fuel cut-off switch located in front of the drivers side tail light. You pull the trunk liner out some to see it. Once it is unpluged crank the car and let it idle until it dies. take about 10 minutes usually until it runs out of gas.

or just wack the shut off valve with a wrench or ratchet. that will set if off, and then just run the car like jstreet said till it dies on its own.

If you opt for bcardinal's method, don't forget to reset the cut-off switch when you're finished changing the filter (push the button located on the top).

Why not just unscrew your braided line from the fuel rail (Slowly). That will still release any pressure...Does the same thing as using the schrader valve.

i would do that, but i don't wanna have to reseal it. i'll prolly just deal with the fuel that comes out and put a small bucket under the car to catch it in.

Stock fuel filter by the gas tank? Just unplug it and plug the new one in. You'll loos less than a few onces of fuel. You won't get sprayed in the face.

You WILL get sprayed if you don't release the pressure unless your filter is so dirty you don't have any pressure.

The method I posted above is the method from the manual. It's simply and it works.

Pull the fuel pump fuse, start the car, and let it run until it quits. Then you are set...
