Changing my oil myself, few quick questions.

i purchased a 30 dollar pair of rhino ramps that have proved invaluable for changing oil, working on the clutch cable, and everything under the car. i suggest these as a purchase.

I have to jack it, then lower it over the oil pan.

Add a jack to the list of stuff needed to change the oil.

Anything else i should use to clean out the engine? Im gonna pick up some fuel injector cleaner i think as well.

Agreed. Get rhino ramps. Well worth the $30

Seafoam does the injector cleaner. put 1/2 the can in the tank, the other half through the PCV inlet below the plenum with the car on at idle.... get a nice smoke show too.

buy some simple green to clean the engine itself


not needed, but why not?
spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes then hose it down.

I got a set of those ramps to install my speedcal, but I thought it might be bad to use them for oil the change. Thought the car was supposed to sit level.

I use Mobil 1 5w30 full synthetic with the Mobil 1 filter. I just replaced my plugs with motorcraft platinums. I heard Fram filters suck.

The stock Motorcraft filters work great.
