My driver's side window motor crapped out on me today (while it was down, figures, just got through painting the door bezels over the weekend). Checked out the control module, it was fine, so I ran it over to our usual mechanic; he said it might be a small part of the motor (which would cost me $110+labor), or the motor itself (which would cost me $220+labor). No way to roll up the window (since it's supposed to rain tonight and I have to go to work in a bit) without taking the whole thing apart, so ghetto-lookin' garbage bag city for me. I called the local salvage parts center, they're about to take one out of a wrecked Stang and will let me have it in the morning for $90 (much better than $110 or especially $220). So, I figure, why not try to put it in myself?

However, before I put this big-brained idea into motion, I decided to do the right thing, which is come here and ask you guys what kind of task I'm looking at here. How exactly do I get the door panels off to access the motor, how it bolts in, hooks up to the window and electrical, etc? Can anyone give me the run-down on what all I need to do, before I decide to try it for myself? I don't have the money to pay someone else, and I'm a survivalist by nature, trying to learn to do my own stuff (which so far, especially with my car, has paid off).

Can anyone help a fellow Stang lover out?

Sorry but that is funny. I don't know how to fix it, but it did happen to me twice actually with both doors . I'd say just let a Mech do it, it'l be easier and you know it's getting done the right way.
