The reason I am wanting to switch this over is bcause i am looking to get a bracket and pulley combo from march. And it is going to use to serpentine belts but it requires a standard rotation water pump to achieve the double belt.....
I put an 88 HO motor into my old 78 Zephyr and I just used the original 78 water pump which was standard rotation and didn't have any problems. What I would do is do a search on Car-part.com for a water pump from a known standard rotation vehicle (any 302 powered passenger car from the 70's) which will give you a pretty good idea of what applications you need. You probaly want an aluminum one, mine was cast iron.A trip to the local wreckers might give you the same info, look for something with a v-belt or the belt on the left side of the pulley.
I think pretty much any older 302 pump should work. I have heard That they dont cool as well as the reverse rotation pumps but for the life of me I cant figure why that would be.
