Changing tires, floor jack too high (anyone else find this)?

So its pretty straightforward, since I put the Roush suspension kit on my car I'm having a lot of trouble getting my floor jack under the car to change the wheels etc. It just barely fits (I just got a new floor jack a few months ago and it used to work fine but now it's just a bit too high), has anyone else found this a problem (I've always used a scissor jack before but they take so long to get up and down).

Maybe it's just me and I'm doing it "wrong" but I thought I'd ask if anyone has any suggestions, tips or knows of a more slim jack? The jack I have now is this one: Canadian Tire

They make jacks for lowered cars but you can throw down a 2 x 10 board, drive up on that and then your jack will fit. Just be sure to put it back under the tire before lowering and drive off.

Hey Matt, I use the 2x10 board trick. Also, if you're changing oil etc, I have the black ABS ramps that Cambodian Tire sells but you need to drive up on the 2x10's first, then on to the ramps.

I've got low profile jacks and I use the 2x10" boards. It makes things a lot easier.

Yeah, I bought a new jack to put my eibachs and BMR stuff on and now I have to drive up on a couple of pavers to get the jack underneath. Good planning!

I as well had the same problem:

I put lowering springs on my jack, and also smaller tires.

I put 13/1/2 up front and then 15/2/2 in the rear, it fits nice and snug under the car now. They have a very low speed rating so I was rather bummed out

Better than jack hammering grooves in the garage floor I guess.

I use the castered hydraulic wheel dollies under the 2 wheels on the side I need to raise, then get my floor jack under the car for raising. These things have saved my ass about 50x over..

Additionally I have four, so I can throw the car in the air and move it around in the garage..

gojacks are badass. well worth the investment.

This sucks. I have a ROUSH racing 3 1/2 ton jack and it barely fit my car on the stock supension. Now that i got ROUSH lowering springs and especially when the ROUSH front end will go in I know it definitely won't work. Talk about irony.

Awesome thanks for all the feedback, just wondering what kind of low profile jacks you guys are using, how much do they cost by the way? Any suggestions on where I can get a set in Canada?

I do the 2x10 board trick as well with a low profile aluminum racing jack.

I think the jack was $120 at my local parts store.

gojack branded ones are more than this link to an OTC branded one. this OTC one can handle wide tires for less $$ than the gojack brand. you have to pay between $150-250 for the various capacity gojacks. this OTC brand one does up to a 13" wide tire for the price of a gojack 9" wide tire capacity jack...

What is the plan if you have a lowered car and get a flat tire?

I think my mini spare will be useless and my car will drag on the ground.
