charging issue's

so i bought a sc mustang gt and i cant figure out why i drive it and the battery drains, can some one tell me what the problem is? i think its the alternator but also could be the battery, but i tested the battery and it was 12.6 and then i tested my other car and that was 12.4 volts.... check engine light comes on and the battery light comes on also.. thx for your help

Check engine light won't come on cause of the battery. You need to dump codes to find out why the check engine light is on. It's probably a bad alt. Go to autozone or somewhere that test batteries.

Agreed. You might be able to find a store that pulls codes. They should be able to do a dynamic charging system test on the car. If they think they know what the issue is, you can pull that part and have it bench tested.
