cheap electric fan?

cheap fan, especially electric? good luck. some folks do fine with the Proform/BlackTragic fan, others don't. just get a spal, ramchargers or the MKVIII fan and be done with it. houston performance used to carry new lincoln fans. dunno if they still do or not.

I bought the Proform fan before I did the Taurus swap. The cheap brass temperature probe (looked like it was a brass tube with a piece of solder barely hanging on) broke off the first time I tried to re-adjust it's position, so I returned it. Piece of crap.

What else is gonna move air over your radiator when your sitting in traffic?
I get that but why do you need a monster 4000cfm fan, with my crappy proform fan the temp never and i mean never moves past 185. I guess what i'm trying to say is why use a fan that has to band-aid a weak cooling system? If you build the system correctly a 2400cfm fan will work perfectly all day and not use half the amps.

The Proform is a great fan, but I must have cracked a blade or something putting my first one in. Thing exploded on me going down the road. Second one has been working great now for a few months.

1Evil, the info that you had a large radiator should have been included in your post about not needing a huge fan, IMHO. Once you begin moving again, the large radiator is able to cool the motor back down quickly.

I dont know how you do it - I also live in the desert and need a lot of fan for in-town driving (when the air coming off the asphalt is 150*+ while it is 115*F outside). If no air is going across the coil (via a fan), all the radiator in the world cant help a stationary car with no grill and/or no ambient wind.

I am glad that works for you, but nothing sucks more than installing a fan which is insufficient. Ergo, recommending an overkill fan cant hurt.
