Last week I added the following to a '04 GT and have had the check engine light on and off, mostly on though.

Trick Flow Upper Intake Plenum (TFS-518-00001)
85mm Mass Air Kit (MAC 3285)
MAC 70 mm Throttle body (MAC 3769)

I dont want to take it to the dealer and have them jump up my ass about the mods. Other than what is listed the car is bone stock.

Anyone have any pointers?

Thanks,
Joe

KaPPaBaLL -

Thanks for the info I went to AutoZone after work and got my hands on a scanner, it was a 180.00 deposit because some people were taking off with the equipment and not bringing it back. I can keep it for a few days up to a week or so and I get my full deposit back, no charge for the use.

It took me about a minute to clear the 2 errors and the light has not returned!

The 2 codes were:
0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)
0174 System Too Lean (Bank 2)

I think it was from when I was installing the parts the first time around.... The second time I had everything right but just needed the errors cleared.

Thanks again.
Joe

that's cool. With all that intake you need to out take. if you know what i mean. You got all these mods that help intake air better, now you need something that will make it exhaust. An imbalance will make the car run like crap. In my case i put my MRT off road h-pipe and welded flowmasters on before i did any intake and the exhaust "gruffed" like hell. Now since i have more intake mods the exhaust doesn't gruff, crackle, and pop.

Gruff, Crackle and Pop. I think I had them for breakfast this morning :p

Kinda agreeing with the Gruff, Crackle and Pop theory. What goes in, must come out. Open up the exhaust and enjoy. Start with a cat-back system and work your way forward. Still, I'm sure these intake mods alone gave you a boost, especially above 3K, correct? Oh, and, of course, gears will REALLY make you grin!
So has the check engine light problem been cleared?
Welcome to Stangnet, Joe!

the check engine light was off for a few days but back on again. yesterday was especially bad but i still have the scanner with me so i can reset the light.

the error i keep getting is 'system too lean' on bank 1 & 2

i went out and got a MagnaFlow x-pipe and MagnaFlow catback yesterday but its not on yet. i have another thread open at: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=459399 regarding that issue. i have gotten some good advice there as well, i may be heading back under the car and see what i can do.

btw, thanks for the welcome, i have been frequenting the site for some time but only recently registered for posting.

Running Lean / Get an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator?

As you know about a week or so ago I added a few mods to an otherwise bone stock '04 GT, ever since the induction additions I keep getting the 'running lean' codes thrown at me. With all the induction additions do you think a fuel pressure regulator may get things on the right track again?

I have gone over everything that I can think of and read through some postings but can't figure it out.

My thoughts are simple, more air = the need for more gas, correct?

By the way, I finally got the MagnaFlow X and Catback in today, I still need to pick up the O2 extensions, maybe tomorrow.

It sounds awesome, I'm really impressed with the whole setup except for the damn check engine light.
