Check engine light?

I have an 03 Gt and i accidentally overfilled the gas tank and gas came out the overfill tube at the bottom of rear bumper. about a minute after i left the check engine light came on. The dealership said the fuel vapor sensor is setting light off. They have to drop gas tank and a bunch of other crap to fix it.I reset the computer and the light dosent come back on till I get gas. just a little gas will set it off. How can I fix this? Is there gas in the charcole canister?

Its under waranty but they said it was my fault so its not covered
