Check Engine Light?

My check engine light comes on every few minutes while driving. When it does there is a brief spike in the rpm's. After a few minutes the light goes off for a short while.

Any ideas?

dump your codes. you can get a digital OBD code reader for like $30. very useful to have. you can even dump them with a paper clip, but the scanner is much handier.

I have a code reader but it doesn't work. I think the wires to connecter may be crossed. I will have to find the "how to" on the paperclip and give it a try.

okay, I finally got my plug for the code reader wired up right. i pulled codes 67 and 85. Seems to be something with the clutch/shift switch or solenoid. would I just need to replace the solenoid on the drivers side fender?

any thoughts?

Did you have the car in neutral and the AC turned off when you ran codes? If not, 67 can occur.

I did have the car in gear now that you mentioned it. I guess I will focus on what needs to be done to clear the 85 code...
