I started with this

And got it to this

He wanted more of a matte finish. Turned out ok I think. Not a great job but a improvement. He didn't want a 100% copy of 5150 but a 5150 style so to say. Next we are going to build one from scratch.

I used DuPont Automotive Paints. Got it at a store by me for like 100 bucks for everything. We were gonna do candy red over the natural finish but the gun i was using spit a bunch of gray primers sluge in the candy so I had to sand it off, and while I was wet sanding, the water expanded the wood and cracked the vaneer finish, so I then had to fill it in and sand and smooth out. I'm real happy with how it came out, theres alot of dirt in the finish but I can sand and buff that stuff out. What can ya ask for with a jerry rigged spraybooth in garage.

I still havent messed around with airbrushings yet. Plus skulls arent really my thing. I'd have to look into it. I've been thinking about buy a bunch of guitar bodies for cheap, painting them up real nice and then selling them for a good profit.

Yea the saga strat kit is the one im going to be getting in a few weeks. If the pickups dont sound that good, ill just replace them with some nice fender texas specials, or some EMG's.

Hey 1990coupe, im at etown all summer we should meet up sometime out there...im about 45 min away...

keep me in mivd when you get more experiance and want to tackle a project like it, my ibanez is a practice guitar and i would not mind to be the first air brush you do if it turns out nice i have 5 more guitars two of wich that i would not mind being custonized. really good work
