I had the whole rotor powder coated. I just had them high temp tape off the gap between the two surfaces. The cooling channels. Then I left the old pads on until they wore through the coating on the contact surfaces and change the pads. Done this a few times with a few different cars. No issues to date. These rotors have about 8k on them so far. Gonna do the rears next. Just want to drive for a bit first.
