checking pulleys

i would install the surpentine belt and use a 3 ft piece of 5/8 in rubber hose and i hold one end to my ear and place the other end close to each pulley. when you get closer to the ticking you will be able to hear the ticks get louder and louder until you locate it. the noise will travel thru the hose to your ear you will be surprised on how well this works. i have also used an automotive stethoscope in the same manner you can get these at any automotive parts store.
