Chevy engine in a Stang?!?!

Good to see this thread is still alive and kicking, at 4 pages no less! Nothing like a good flame fest.

Wait wait wait... For an LSx motor, wouldn't it just be easier to start with a Camaro or Firebird?!!?? At this point, you can't give gearbanger a hard time for building up an engine that is SUPPOSED to be in the car.

Its not a flame contest,and i am not giving gearbanger a hard time.we are allowed to have an opinion.Even you are allowed to have one.If somebody wants to put a chevy engine in there car(A BAD Ass one),more power to them.If someone wants to puta built engine in a cougar more power to them to.Any way you seem to not have anything better to do and want to see a peeing contest and you can have one......................................... without me.

Yea, I know, everybody is entitled to their own opinion. But don't expect to come on a Mustang website and support the idea of putting a Chevy power plant in a Ford and not get any retaliation. Its just a concept I'll fight against for the rest of my life. I still want to be friends. Haha.

No ****. People bow to my car when they see it cause it's all stock Ford parts. Thank god they can't tell it has a non-Ford made exhaust and shifter! I would be hung right from the Burger King sign! That's all there is to it. If its done well and done right, I'll probably like it. I don't care what brand it is.

But like I said...I love cars, not just Mustangs like some of ya.

This is what i dont understand about some fox mustang "enthusiasts"

the aftermarket is what made these cars so popular and without aftermarket support the car wouldnt be 10% of what it is now. If i wanted to see a stock original car with the correct tag on the radiator cap and original air still in the tires i'd go to a MOPAR SHOW... thats right, i just compared us to mopar guys, and i dont like it one bit, those guys are ****ing wacko... Modify your fox mustang till your in the 9's thats what these cars are made for

I agree 100%, my post was pure sarcasm if you didn't notice. I just don't see why it matters who makes the parts that you use to get to 9s.

Had one.....had three of them actually and wanted something different. I got tired of the creeks and rattles, the crappy ride and every teenager in a minivan, Civic, or a Sunfire wanting to run me at the light. Also, at 6'3" another Fox wasn't going to cut it.

SN95's were still far too pricey for my liking when I got rid of my last fox and I got this car for a steal ($800 with a bad engine).

Now, it outruns anything from the factory short of an '03-'04 Cobra, or a GT500, out handles and out stops a Fox and rides better than any of them. And I've actually got a trunk with this car. Not to mention it still knocks down about 26mpg on the highway.

The plan was to keep this car a few years while the SN95's came down in price, then transplant the drive train later on. If you think about it....I saved a bunch of money. Now instead of having to be without power for X-number of years while I scrape the finances together for the SN95, I still get to have a nice, comfortable, fast car that when I'm done with will allow me to swap the parts over and not have to build a second time with another Mustang.

Look, I understand the point you are trying to make, but in no way, shape or form does me building my Cougar, that already had and was set up with an existing Ford modular based platform compare to going through the trouble of scraping up the parts to put a Chevy engine in a Mustang and creating some bastardized version of a hot rod when there are plenty of offerings, right from Ford that would make just as much power, would be easier to install and wouldn't get disapproving looks from Ford loyalists like myself.

So.....have you any more straws you would like to grasp at, or have I answered all of your questions to your liking?

Sorry man, I don’t mean to sound pessimistic or catty here, but it just seemed like you were overly determined to use my car as the example to justify the Mustang/LS1 merger, but the fact remains that the examples and their circumstances were and are completely different.

I feel ya. That's why I spend waaaaaay too much time on StangNet between 8am and 430pm.

I don't know if you've ever seen under the hood of a 4th gen camaro but it's like working in a van. It makes me laugh when people complain about putting LTs in the Fox4 platform... those fourth gens are nasty to work on, half the engine in under the cowl and the LT1 models are massive torque-making rolling piles of chit.

Had a few buddies in college with F-Bodies, and yea, who knows what GM was thinking when they engineered that engine placement. The engine is installed/removed from under the car, right?

I can only imagine the initial thought was to bring the engine as far back towards the cowl and away from the front end as possible to keep the weight distribution more even.

Based on the way I've seen most of them handle though, it still didn't do a whole lot of good?

I'd rather swap LT headers in a fox than change spark plugs in an early F-Body.
