I figured that this question would apply to all V8's. I have a 95 Chevy 2500 with a 350 with high miles on it, unsure exactly how many. It has a huge appetite for oil, like 1 quart every couple hundred miles. I changed the pcv valve for kicks but it still burns it. I know it isn't leaking out, it doesn't puff blue when first started or when you get on it. But oil does puddle on the intake below(next to) the thottle body near the two middle intake bolts. I was thinking that the intake manifold gaskets are bad, but wanted to see if anyone else had an idea before I tore it all apart. It also fouls (blackens) the oil really fast when I change it. The trucks seems to have plenty of power though. Thanks for any help. Sidenote, Getting a new motor for the Mustang.

check your plugs...my dad had a truck like that and he had to change the #1 plug every 3000 Km's and add a litre of oil every 300 Km's.....changed the motor and I took the old one apart for sh-it's and giggles and rings on #1 piston were broke and the piston had a lot of play in the cyl...We ran 20W-40 in it and it helped a little.

I'd clean it up real well and watch for new snail trails (leaks).

A wet and dry compression test (leakdown is better but not feasible for some) might be helpful.

I'd want to do all that before tearing anything down.

Good luck.
