Chip and shifter in today!

Well I added a few more mods to the list today! I put in my Pro 5.0 and SCT chip today! All I can say about that shifter is OMG!!! If you don't have an aftermarket shifter in your car already you need to buy one! lol!! The chip I haven't done with much with yet because I'm still breaking in the motor. It's a really cool chip though (http://www.superchipscustom.com/) it has a little dial that lets you switch tunes at a whim! Here's all the programs I have on there:

0) High performance for 87 octane
1) High performance for 91+ octane
2) Rev limiter program (2500 RPM max. For dropping the car off at places where other people will be driving it)
3) Stock tune with 3.73 gear fix
4) Stock tune (Unchangeable)
5) Car will not run

Right now I'm running program 3, so for the first time since I got the car the speedo is right!!! WOOHOO!!

How does that work? Just lowers the rev limitor to 2.5k? Wouldn't that make it more likely for another person driving your car to hit the rev limitor?

You bet, but hitting the rev limiter is better than someone reving my car to 5000 RPM and being mean to it!

I guess if you had an automatic and wanted to make sure the car shifted early and didnt' wind out the rpms that would be a cool feature but for a manual car I would think that the person who is driving it would probably be hitting the rev limitor ALOT if you set it at 2.5k. I wonder if first gear is really even useable with a rev limitor of 2.5k.

I do understand what your getting at though.

The 2500 rev limiter trick is ideal for valet parking or dropping your car off for service that doesn't involve motor work. It'll keep the monkeys from takin' your car out for a little romp in the alley behind the shop or playing race-car driver in the valet lot. The test setting on my JMS chip has a 2500 rev limiter that I use just for this purpose.

Congrats on your mods!

What does the shifter do again? Besides shifting gears of course, but why is it better than the stock one? [n00b question]
