Chrome oil pan

Have any of you got any tips regarding sealing a chrome oil pan,
I have my engine out (302) basically just to reseal it and conveniently have a brand new chrome oil pan that I would like to put on (it was free) but I have had a few people advise me that it is tough to get a chrome one to seal properly????
I can't understand why
if it matters the pan is a " Motorsport" pan, brand new never used, appears to be good quality, rails are straght and has reenforcements in the corners of the rails

I have installed countless oil pans, engines and misc., gaskets over the years and have yet to find one that won't seal if installed properly

any tips would be appreciated

It has to do with the sealing surfaces, chrome is extremely slick and it's hard to get a gasket that'll bond with it. Rough up the gasket rails and end radius's and it'll be fine.

Agreed. I had a Motorsport chrome pan and it never leaked.

Spend the extra money and use the one piece gasket.
