I have a 1990 7up vert. I am going to get some 10th anniversary rims and cannot decide between the chrome or gunmetal. With the deep emerald green paint, I am concerned that the gunmetal will not stand out enough. With the chrome, I am concerned that it will be to much “bling” … What are your thoughts?

I was thinking a 17x9 rim with 255/40/17 all the way around. With the car being lowered 1" plus, am don't know if larger meats will fit...

I have gunmetal on white and love it. I've seen it on siver and it looks good. IMO it's harder to like on mustangs painted bolder colors as the wheels just end up blending into the background or looking dirty. Chome is timeless.

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

Would these rims be considered gunmetal?

What I am looking @ is 17x9 chrome or gunmetal 4 lug. I want to be able to put the turbines back on for shows etc so no five lug for me ...

I am concerned that going with 255/40/17 on all 4 corners will make the wheels look to small. The overall diameter of the new setup will be over 1/2 smaller.

I am looking at 245-45-17 for mine they are .7 bigger in dia. then 255.
I want something comparable to the 275-50-15 drag radials that I currently have so when I switch back and forth my speedo won’t be too far off. The difference in dia. is only .1.

link will show speedo error old vs new tire size

I am concerned that the 245/45/17 will rub on my lowered stock fox. I don't want to roll the lip or BMFH the inners...

Do you think the 255/40/17 on all four will look to small?

I have 245 45 17's on my lowered stang. Backs don't rub but front did. Some fender rolling and an agressive alignment fixed it.

I really like the stance of DocG2828 on this site. So that is what I recommend, find a car stance that you like on here and copy or modify their set up for your car.

this is a good reference thread under sticky of different combinations.

BTW go CHROME or argent

pretty sure that I am going with Chrome... I think the gunmetal will blend in with the dark green paint. Also think that the gunmetal will make the rim look smaller. Now just have to get my mind around 255/40/17 on all of the corners.

One last thing. Will the rear drums look stupid? One of the reason that I never got the cobra r was because of the open design and the visibility of the rear drums.

Where did you find those. I love that design, but never saw them in four lug.

O.E. Wheels. They have their own site or you can find them on ebay. Last time I looked 4 17x9 gunmetal rims with 255/40/17 mounted for $690...
