I have a 2001 mustang gt. the motor has 30000 on it. One day i went on break to start my car up and all of a sudden it started to clatter almost like a lifter. Its worse when you barely touch the gas. Some people told me it was a rod bearing but its not a knock its a clattering sound and im still driving this car after 3 weeks now and its not getting any worse. A ford guy told me he thought it was a scorged piston any help would be great

First off, stop driving the car!

Secondly, unplug each injector connector one at a time. If the noise goes away, you know there is a problem with the rotating assembly. If the noise stays, the problem is else where. Check the oil pressure with an accurate gauge. Perform a leak down test and compression test. It could be something little like an exhaust leak or something major like a spun bearing/piston slap/bad wrist pin.

Was it making that noise BEFORE you sprayed? Have you recently installed a midpipe or headers? When you unpluged the injector, how much quieter is the noise? What about the other cylinders?
