Im not very familiar with clay bars and what they do and how they work. Should I use one on my silver 2000 GT? The paint seems in good shape, has a nice shine. I dont expect a show car shine from a factory painted 4 year old car. I usually wash every week and wax every couple months.

Touch your paint? Feel rough or bumpy? If so, use the clay bar. You'll be amazed A) what will come off of your paint and B) how much easier wax will come off.

I have a damn fine shine on my 66 and the paint is over 10 years old. Try it. You'll like it.

Just don't drop the clay bar on the ground....if you do throw it away. Feel the car before and then after, its smooth as a babies butt. I've never felt a babies butt but I hear they're smooth.

GOOD REMINDER! The bar will pick up grit and serve as sand paper.

I have an 18 month old son. Babies' butts are, indeed, smooth.

I did the clay bath on both my cars and was blown away. It feels and looks great.

I used the Meguiars clay bar with the detailer mist. How is the Mothers? Is there anything better out there or are they just about the same?

I used the mothers and it works great, I'd say they're all about the same with the one on sale being slightly better

Would you recommend this if the car is 91 with original paint?

YES! Try it. It is the best $13 you'll ever spend.

Even with cleaning it as often as you do. Which is the same as me. Give that clay bar a try you will be happy you did.

Its just removes all the little bumps and contaminents. I couldnt believe how much smoother the paint was. Use the palm of your hand and glide it across before and after you do it, you will be amazed. Paint is smoooth like glass, but like what was posted above, do not drop it, and its a lot like play-doh. Kneed it often as you are using it

Also, use some polish after you clay bar, then top it off with a coat of wax. Lot of work but well worth it IMO
