Everytime i wax my car, i get some wax on the black parts (quarter window moulding, trim around windows, etc) and they turn white where the wax got on them because i cant get it back off. How can you clean these parts up? will tire shine work well?
The first thing I would try is peanut butter, the oils in it can dissolve some waxes. If that doesn't work get one of those white (pink ones won't work) office type erasers. That is what I usually use. As a last resort you can also try the products at the following link.
In the future I would get some low release painters tape. You should be able to find it at just about any auto parts store. I have also seen it at stores like Lowes and Home Depot. The best is the blue but, green will also work.
Lastly you could also try a wax that does not stain your trim white when it dries. What are you using now and how often do you wax?
The only issue I have with Back to Black is that although it does clean some it also hides the residue. I prefer products that completely remove the wax. I suggested the free or at least cheap options first because on some waxes peanut butter with a tooth brush works really well and the white office eraser has never failed me yet. The best product I have found to date though is the Wax Blaster in the link I posted above. It completely dissolves wax. You still need to treat it with a dressing afterwards as Wax Blaster is just a cleaner.
