cleaning inside of tranny???

man why do you do all this unnessasary stuff? I know its tough to just look at parts sitting there not doing anything, but the problem is, you take 10 things apart at once (for instance), and you put them all back together and then put all the parts on the car. Then, you start driving it and somethings wrong, well now you have 10 suspected parts to check, instead of just one. Its a simple concept, and I know its no fun, but its saves you a headache or two.

Steel wool wont affect anything. The debris is too fine to affect a bearing. Compressed air that case out, then run some mineral spirits through it.

I would do it right while its out,dont take any chances,doing work twice sucks.But to each their own.

aaaw come on guys

Dont you remember your first project car? You probably wanted to take everything apart too. Its fun and a learning experience and you make all your mistakes all at once right in the beginning so your second project car turns out to be a masterpiece.

Let him tinker.

You can get away with a lot for a light load street car that a "race" car would not be able to tolerate. You can cut a lot of corners on a mild NA car that you could not on a power adder'ed vehicle. That personal experience from when I rebuilt my 302 in my pennyless college kid days on a shoestring budget. Sometimes I just had to mcguyver something together. I did pretty well.

I remember my first project car well, I only finished it about a month ago. And I didnt want to take everything apart because I was too busy working on the things that needed to be done. Showed some self control with my tinkering, and thats why I dont have to make 5 threads a day asking whats not right. And yes, it is very fun to take things apart and see how they work and all, but sometimes its just not the right time to do so.
