Hi all,

Has anyone had any experience with those clear, vinyl car bras? My wife has an '04 convertible and, while looking for a car bra, found someone selling them on e-bay. They are made of .17mm thick clear vinyl. Not sure if they work better than the traditional ones or not. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

i have heard nothing but good things about them. the car wash by my house installs them. they are kind of pricey but they come with a 100% lifetime warranty.

I can highly recommend a clear bra. I installed one myself after having my car painted and it is nearly invisible.

I would NOT recommend the ones you can attach and detach (vinyl). They look horrible, dirt gets under the vinyl and rubs against your paint.

I bought the Aerogard from www.clearmask.com. It came with installation video (online) and tools.

As this is a question to which a large image best show the answer I assume it would be okay, but I'll agree it can be quite annoying to have to scroll sideways to read the posts.

Did you get the Clearmask or the Aerogaurd? I honestly cannot see it in the picture of your car. Also did you do just the hood or did you do the bumper as well? This might be one of my next projects.

I bought the Aeroguard as they state that is the most invisible of the two products. At some angles and specific lights you will be able to see the line of the clear bra slightly, but it's amazingly well hidden.

I only installed it on the hood and behind the rear wheels as a paint shop told me that it was just as cheap to repaint the front bumper as installing clear-bra (I'm not sure I believe the quality of that work). More importantly I was a bit intimidated by doing the install myself on a bumper with all the corners and bends.

I don't know if they still do it, but when they shipped my order they included free "clear bra" material for the headlights and the door sills as well (I didn't install those).

Thanks for all the info. Serviator, I was quite impressed with the pictures of your Stang. Nice job, you take them yourself? The Aerogard's "look" great - can't even see them in the pics. How long did it take you to install it?

Thanks for adjusting the pic size. My wife gave birth, so I'll be in and out for a bit.

Personally, I have the 3M brand clearbra on the bmw, and I'm glad I did. It has saved the paint from many rock chips (you can see small indentions in the clear bra when you clean the car that would have been chips had the bra not been installed) and even saved the paint when some dumb ass kissed the bumper with his truck's license plate frame.

The best is supposedly Venture shield, but the price I was quoted to install it was outrageous. I got the entire front bumper, mirrors, inside of door handle area, and 1/4 hood kit for about 600 installed through a friend.

My friend has the 3m stuff on his 911, works great. I wish I had it on this car from the beginning.

Craig, I used an hour for preparation (after the car was cleaned) and then another hour to install it. I saw the instruction video 3 times so I wouldn't have to stop half way through the install with questions. Once the backing of the film was peeled off I felt it was best to finish as soon as possible. If you have any install questions when you get to that point, don't hesitate to ask.
