I had an aftermarket adjustable clutch cable put in end of last summer. That was my first mistake after reading posts on them.
I have 2 questions. I notice that I can change gears more smoothly when i push the clutch in completely. I mean I have to use my tennis shoes and use my toe to push it down and it goes in smoothly. When I wear work shoes and push it in all the way, but NOT with my toe, it does not go into gear as smoothly.
Question 1) Can I adjust this? Should I let the cable out even more so it catches higher?

2) I can hear a slight CLICK when the clutch is starting to come back up from the floor.

Any ideas?

THanks,
Jim

if yu have an adjustable cable then yes you can adjust it. i'm assuming you dont have a firewall adjustor so jack the car up and tighten the bolts on the cable (making the cable shorter) where it attaches to the clutch fork and that should make the clutch catch higher on the pedal. i say "should" because i might have it backwards and you might have to loosen the bolts. i'm pretty sure it's shorter though. bah i can't remember. good luck!

If the point of enagement is close to the floor, you can use your FWA. Turn it CCW to take up slack in the cable. This should keep you from needing to be on tippy-toe to shift cleanly.

The clicking is tougher to track down. I'd deal with one issue at a time.

Good luck.

i adjusted it so it is a bit higher. i may go a hair higher though. i dont like it when it is up almost to the top. i guess i can get used to it though. it MAY go into gear easier after having done that. i need to drive it more to find out!
thanks
