Finally got some time yesterday to disassemble my drums to see what's up with my brakes. I pull the front right wheel off, and what do I find....

2 stress fractures on each side of the ball joint on the upper control arm.

Had my brakes not failed, this probably would have broken very soon under driving conditions. That would have been awful.

So I guess I'll be tearing the whole front suspension back down. I'll probably be putting new stock UCAs back in, for cost sake. But if any of you have some budget UCA recommendations, send them my way.

I am hoping they were stress cracks instead of fractures!

Were they stock UCAs? Do you remember where you bought them?

They are stock style control arms. I'm not sure if they are original or repops, as they were there when I got the car. They look old enough to be original.
