Clutch burning smell???

I just had my Spec Clutch Stage 1 installed a few months ago. Ever since it was installed, if I ride it even the slightest bit, it gets that nasty burning smell. I thought it would eventually go away since it was new, but it is still doing it. Also if I spin my tires it will smell bad for like 5 minutes or so. It also does it a little when I get on it and shift through the gears. Could it have been installed wrong? I watched the guy do it and it seemed like the new one just bolted back in. The actual clutch and throw out bearing were replaced. The flywheel was not resurfaced. What would be causing this? My stock clutch didn't do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It could be possible that it was installed incorrectly.

You SHOULD of had the Flywheel resurfaced.

And my overall suggestion would be NEVER to buy SPEC again. ugh i hate spec clutches.

I’ve had my stage 1 spec for a year now and it did the same thing for about 2k miles. It still does it if I really slip clutch in reverse, other then that it's fine now. I also did not get my flywheel resurfaced I haven’t noticed any problems with it other then the smell, and it still grabs hard.... My guess is a resurfacing would have helped us out and it takes a f#$king long time for a spec to break in Also make sure your cable is adjusted correctly I’ve noticed it will burn more if it's not adjusted right.


By the way how hard is your pedal. All the research I did said it should only be a little firmer then stock, but mine is hard as rock. If I get stuck in traffic I have to message my leg from cramping up...

Yeah mine is quite a bit stiffer than the stock, but I like it. I don't have to push it all the way to the floor to engage it.
