Clutch cable conundrum

As I enter the home stretch on this car, little things keep giving me fits. Here's the latest:

I installed the '93 Cobra T-5 into the car, with a Fox bellhousing. I ordered a new clutch cable from NAPA (years ago), and it looks just like my old one. When I went to install the cable, it lines up just fine, but I seem to be missing something. There's a cast hole in the bell that the cable threads through to line up with the clutch fork. The cable itself has a threaded end on it that obviously needs something to secure the cable to the bellhousing. I don't have that piece. So, I measured the threads, ran to the hardware store and bought the right size nut. Good idea, but no dice. The nut is WAY too big in diameter to actually thread onto the cable once it's threaded.

Do I need some kind of sleeved specialty fastener? It's been so long since I took the tranny out, I cannot remember what was there. I'm usually very good at saving everything, but I've got nothing. I've looked for schematics online, and can't get an answer.
What fits on there??

Unfortunately, mine is long gone. Took it off 7 years ago, have no idea where it ended up.
My new cable didn't come with one. Can anyone describe what I need so I know where to start?

A vise and file or grinder to reduce the nuts diameter (and a little Loc-Tite) would get you on the road.

Or Grainger/ McMaster Carr may have a nut that works.

If I ground/filed it down, I think I'd have one hell of a time tightening it. I doubt my ability to get it accurately sized for a socket to fit it...

The good news is I found one. Or rather, found someone with one. The Mustang II Madman had one laying around and it is in the mail.
Now I've got a new issue, but I'll start another thread. I keep getting closer, I just hope the weather holds out a little longer!
