Clutch Cable Or Other Part

I installed a clutch cable with a new quadrant and firewall adjuster. My mechanic drove my car a few weeks ago and said the clutch was hard to push in, i knew it was a little stiff but i thought that it was normal. And now today the clutch cable i installed in March snapped. My mechanic is contributing this to a bad pressure plate. Does this seem true, or could it have just been the cable was adjusted too tight. Any help or input is appreciated, thanks. And there was no other symptoms of the clutch/or pressure plate going bad.

found an M-pact clutch kit on Rockauto.com. has anybody heard anything about this brand? On a budget but don't want to buy junk parts.

i ended up ordering a Luk Clutch kit from Rockauto.com. Has anybody heard anything about these or have one themselves?

Thanks for the posts. I just ended up replacing the clutch, bought a Luk clutch kit from Rockauto.com. So far so good.
