so i've determined that my clutch is engaging about 2/3 the way down. This could be the reason I have trouble shifting huh? its like hitting a wall in every gear almost. no grinding.

I have a ford racing quadrant and cable. I have a steeda firewall adjuster but havent put it on yet. I think my cable needs adjusting but it's been awhile since we put everything on, i dont remember.

When i'm under the car adjusting the cable....does it need to have MORE or LESS slack in it? like i said its damn near the floor before its engaging and im having a hard time visualizing...

thanks a bunch!

If im understanding you correctly you would like less slack, the tighter you have the nut on your cable, the less you'll have to push your pedal in to disengage the clutch. The firewall adjuster is a good tool to get it dialed in where you would like it so you dont have to climb under the car for little adjustments

Hope that didn't confuse you more

yes i think i understand. I need to tighten up the cable. Makes sense now and seems pretty basic....thanks

is there any difference between the adjusters or are they all pretty much the same? they dont seem like something that would vary much from company to company. I just picked up a Steeda one at a swap meet for pretty cheap.

just make sure you still have atleast an 1" of travel at the top of the pedel until the clutch dis-engages (sp) its been a long day. The way i test mine is get up to cruise speed and just slowly push the pedal and make sure you get atleast an 1" or so down before it starts to slip....If you get it to tight, the clutch could be slipping without you even pressing the pedal.

I got one of the mico click adjusters, I love it because I dont have to deal with a set screw.
