clutch cable setup

I got a 65 mustang fastback with a 302 eng with a world class t-5. I am having problems occationally while taking off from a dead stop. The car feels like im in 3rd gear and the engine shakes as though the mounts are broken.
well the mounts are ok and one mechanic suggested installing a clutch cable system instead of the equalizer bar. He said that the clutch is not disengaging from the fly wheel. Also how do I tell if I have a late model bell housing or not?

If I am not mistaken, the old style bellhousing requires a spacer of somesort. A late model one (like I have) doesn't have that spacer.

I have a clutch cable setup and I like it alot, just make sure you don't adjust it to tight.
