Clutch Cable Slipping Off

2 times now, the clutch cable has slipped off what I assume is the "quadrant" (under the driver side near firewall). This piece does not appear to be stock as it is a polished aluminum assembly and I suspect Ford wouldn't have put such a nice part in a hidden area.

How can we identify what brand this is?
Is the problem a faulty quadrant or is my clutch cable just potentially misadjusted?

This has obviously been a problem with the vehicle because when it did it the first time, I noticed the cable had duct tape wrapped around it - as if the previous owner was fighting the same thing (trying to keep cable on the quadrant)

I did search the forums but couldn't find exactly the answers I was looking for

(94 GT with Stroker)

I surmise you're correct. If the cable has too much slack in it, the cable could theoretically fall off the quadrant (though the ferrule should kinda hold it into the tang on the quadrant).

If your point of engagement has been right on the floor, that's another sign the adjustment is loose. Dial the slack out of the cable and you should be set. If the cable has multiple hooks, it might not be set on the correct hook.

And you're also right about the quadrant. The stocker is yellow plastic. When using an aftermarket quadrant, you need to add a FWA or use an adjustable cable (the stock set-up has an adjustable quadrant but aftermarket quadrants are not adjustable). I would use a FWA and a Ford (non adjustable) cable.

Thanks so much for the info. We recieved our clutch cable and adjuster and put everything back together and it seems to work great - with better engagement point than we had in the past.

Really appreciate the help we've recieved on this forum !
