Ok I went down to pick up my car today, unfortunately I am probably not going to come home with it today. Here is the scoop. I opened up the garage started the car pushed in the clutch, started letting the clutch out to get the car out and noticed that the clutch was not fully disengaging. For some reason. The only thing I can think of is when I bent that Clutch Equalizer Bar and shorted it I messed something up. I talked to somebody that said that bar is pretty sensitive and you probably shouldn't have messed with it. But my headers do not fit if I would have left it where it was from the factory. Now the only thing I can think of is either build one or find one that is premade that will fit with headers. Have any of you ever heard of such a thing. I know people have put a lot of headers on manual trans mustangs so is there something I am missing. Any suggestions. I also heard a rumor that the bar off of a Shelby will work???????

Modern day clutches play havoc on an original early model Z-bar.

My suggestion would be to have some gussets added to the bar. This is what I did after missing a race because of a bent Z-bar.

Even the original HP type Z-bar might bend with today's improved clutches.

I use 3/8" round bar to beef-up the Z bars. Most anything can be used as a brace. Some 3/4" flat strap will work too. These are our roller Z bars but the regular Z bars get the same bracing.
