Hey guys,

So I've got the LX all ready for the new flywheel and clutch kit to go in, had a few questions. The first one is what I'm really worried about. When I removed the transmission crossmember I had a few beers in me and forgot the support the engine with my jack, and when I came out the next day I saw how the weight from the tranny and engine were sitting unsupported so I got the jack in there right away. Next morning I come out and the jack must have shifted or got bumped or something because it the engine was sitting all by itself unsupported (I had removed the tranny that day). Heavy duty mechanic at my fire hall said its probably not a huge deal but it can potentially cause major alignment issues which will lead to uneven clutch wear (I think he was just trying to make me feel better when he said potentially lol). Anyways, it has happened a couple times since and i figured out why it was shifting so I chocked the jack. Am I in for some bad news when I install this bad boy because I am really worried lol?

Second question is regarding installation of new dowel pins in my new OEM flywheel. There is pretty much only one way the new pressure plate can go on my flywheel allowing untilization of the 6 bolts and 3 dowels, however there are severeal other threaded holes that won't be used (is this normal?). I bought a dowel/bolt kit and I'm not sure how to install the dowels I've heard of tapping them in but it dont think that is gunna happen with mine, when I lightly tap them there not gunna go anywhere because of the stops half way in the bolt holts. It seems that dowels fit perfectly on the stops but need some kind of adhesive to make them permanent? Is this completely wrong because I do not see them being hammered in any way. If they do need to be glued in wat type of adhesive should be used? No instructions btw, always a positive.

Thanks guys.

The engine mounts are fine Im sure. As for the dowels, put your p/p up to it so you'll know exactly where they go. I've always used a hammer to tap them in. The unused holes are normal.

What he said.

I'm doing an AOD to T5 swap and my engine has been sitting back for 2 weeks now. I'm not worried about it.

Mount up the PP and figure out what 6 bolt holes you'll need. Then mark where the dowels are going to go with a permanent market.

Take the PP off and tap the FAT side of the dowel pins in place with a hammer. Just tap them in until the fat side is even or slightly recessed.

It's easier done before you bolt the flywheel on BTW. Also, it helps to run a thread chaser down the holes first and then spray brake cleaner in to clean the threads. They are M8 x 1.25
