I just did mine 2 weeks ago in the garage, on my back, well its not hard but it helps if you have air tools and an impact to remove the flywheel bolts or your going to need a flywheel holder from MAC or Snap-On, you should also get a pilot bearing remover, other that that its all staright forward with no surprises other than the starter is kinda haed to accses but you should be ok also grain the tranny before you remove the driveshaft so it doesent make a mess. Get a Hayes manual at autozone it explains everything step by step.

I did that twince in 1.5 week. Its pretty easy - especially if you still have OEM manihold. Just that trans is HEAVY. U wanna have buddy around for disconnecting and reinstalling trans. It can be done by yourself, as i did. But it'll take soo long, makes you feel dumb.
U wanna have trans jack, or know someone who have them. U'll want to have looooooong 3/8 extention(for two bolts on top of trans mount)
Make sure you drain your trans fluid. have Torque wrench.
Make sure you get new GOOD tob, pilot bearing, some heat resistant grease, puller for pilot bearing(can be done without it by using hydro ram method).

search under my name for all post i started. I wrote up some step by step how to about month ago.

Just remenber - BE AWARE of 2 top bolts!!!!!!!! u wanna use 6 pts 13mm socket. NOT 12pts!!!!! TRUST ME (and Tomstang) on this one

I have heard that back in the day, mechanic used to line up spline without aligment tool. Frankly, i can't imagine how. it was hard enough to line it up with it
