Clutch Install????

Installing a clutch isn't too big of a job, me and a friend did mine not too long ago, we took our time and did it in 11 hours. We put in a SPEC Stage 2, and yes parts wise it came with everything needed, Pilot bearing, Throwout Bearing, Pressure plate, etc. Of course you will need tools, Impact wrench, torque wrench, sockets (metrics too), etc. You will also need high temp lub for your throwout bearing, and if you haven't done so already this would be a great time to change your tranny fluid if that time is getting close. I recommend getting the Haynes manual for your mustang, they're pretty cheap like $15 if I remember right, it has all the torque specs and various other useful things in it. Remember to mark the positions on your driveshaft to ensure that you put it back the way it was. There's really not alot to it, this should be enough to get you on the right track, everyone else can build on or correct the information I gave, with everyone here, it should be a piece of cake for you. If you have any more questions just ask. Enjoy! :flag:

Dont have time to do it myself. I would rather just pay someone to do it that way I know it was done right and I can blame someone else if it is not. So does anyone know about how much to install a clutch??

I had my Stage 1 SPEC clutch installed for a total of $310.
They had to remove some of the exhaust to get the transmission out and then install the clutch. They also had to flush out the tranny fluid for whatever reason.....If you plan on getting the stage 1 SPEC beware that after the install you may hear a constant tweaking sound coming from the throw out bearing that was provided by SPEC....overall its a clutch that HOLDDSSS. Oh yea remember to have them Re-surface the stock flywheel to. That alone is $50 bucks sheesh.

E mail me at [email protected] to let me know how the clutch is after you had it install, as I am curious if the same noise happens to u.

King Cobra on my wife's 01 - about $375, including parts & labor. It replaced a SPEC 2 that was not installed right. SPECs will cost a bit more... The King Cobra (heck, even the stock clutch) can handle a lot of power. It's the abuse that it takes that will shorten the life of any clutch. The SPEC is grippier, grabby... The King Cobra is more like a stock clutch, but a bit more heavy duty...
